The story of the first part of Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar ends with the death of Rehman Dakait, played by Akshaye Khanna. He is murdered by undercover agent Hamza, also played by Ranveer Singh. He teams up with Superintendent of Police (SP) Chaudhary Aslam Khan (Sanjay Dutt) to eliminate Rehman Dakait, after which a new story begins. However, in the final moments of the film, we see Rehman's younger brother, Uzair Baloch, played by Danish Pandor, arriving at the hospital and embracing Hamza, his brother's murderer. But Uzair's story isn't as detailed as the film depicts.
Uzair Baloch had openly murdered gangster Arshad Pappu
Dhurandhar 2 is set to release in March. However, Uzair is far more violent in real life than depicted in the film or the first installment. In reality, Uzair Baloch is one of Karachi's most dangerous gangsters. After the death of Rehman Dakait, Uzair took over his brother's criminal empire and extended his power to Lyari. Consequently, Uzair's name soon became associated with some of the most brutal incidents in the region's violent history.

Uzair is believed to have been responsible for the murder of gangster Arshad Pappu, whose mutilated body was later found in Lyari. Locals say that after the murder, Uzair and his associates openly displayed the body and threw it around the streets. Some eyewitnesses even alleged that the severed head was used as a football. This act became a symbol of the rampant brutality that prevailed in Lyari at the time.

After his father's death, Rehman joined a gang of Dakait.
Uzair's entry into the world of crime stemmed from personal loss. In 2003, Uzair's father, Faiz Muhammad, was kidnapped for ransom and then murdered by Arshad Pappu. This devastated Uzair's entire family. Following this incident, Uzair's cousin, Rehman Dakait, invited him to join his gang.
At the time, Rehman had established dominance over the Lyari gang network and was already a rival of Arshad Pappu, who was trying to establish control in the area. Despite this, reports suggest that Uzair was initially reluctant to join organized crime. According to a report in Dawn, Uzair was eventually persuaded to join the gang due to his mutual rivalry with Arshad.
After Rahman Dakait's death, Uzair entered politics
Shortly thereafter, Uzair was arrested by Chaudhry Aslam Khan, played by Sanjay Dutt in Dhurandhar. However, this did not end his criminal reputation, as Rehman Dakat's political connections secured his release. He spent two years in a Karachi jail. As depicted in the film, Rehman and Uzair had connections with the Pakistan People's Party (PPP).
Rehman Dakat was killed in a police encounter in 2009, leaving Uzair Baloch in power. He subsequently became the gang leader and also took control of Rehman's People's Aman Committee, which influenced local elections in Lyari. After Rehman's death, PPP leaders protected Uzair and allowed him to operate until 2012.
Even after the party was dissolved, Uzair Baloch's rule continued
In 2011, the Pakistani government dissolved the People's Committee. This move prevented Uzair from contesting elections under the party's banner, but it did not weaken his hold on Lyari. Despite the ban, Uzair's presence was clearly visible, with posters bearing his image appearing throughout the area, maintaining his influence.
Rakesh Bedi's character, Jameel Jamali, is loosely based on Gabol. The rivalry between Uzair Baloch and leader Nabeel Gabol is a true story. The 2012 Vice News documentary, "Guide to Karachi," reveals that Nabeel Gabol and Chaudhry Aslam joined forces to assassinate Uzair. By this time, the PPP and PAC were openly feuding, leading to the 2012 "Lyari Grand Operation," led by Chaudhry Aslam.
Uzair Baloch took revenge for the death of Rehman Dakait
Years after Rahman Dakait's death, Uzair took revenge. In 2013, Arshad Pappu was captured and killed. Reports say that parts of his body were chopped off and burned publicly on the streets of Lyari, allegedly to instill fear among eyewitnesses. Arshad Pappu appears briefly in Dhurandhar, in a scene where Jameel Jamali, along with Chaudhry Aslam, plots Rahman Dakait's death. His presence in the film suggests a larger role in the sequel, just as his importance increased in real life after Rahman's death.
Uzair Baloch is in a Pakistani jail
By 2014, Uzair Baloch was accused of more than 50 extortion cases and was also linked to the murders of gang members and police officers. Warrants were issued against him, but he managed to flee Pakistan before he could be arrested.
In 2015, Uzair was arrested by Interpol at Dubai International Airport and extradited to Pakistan. Five years later, in 2020, Uzair was sentenced to 12 years in prison and sent to Karachi Central Jail. Just days ago, Uzair was acquitted in a 2012 weapons case due to a lack of evidence. However, he remains in prison.
About Dhurandhar 2
Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar depicts the death of Rehman the Dakait. But in reality, it was merely a transfer of power. Dhurandhar 2 is scheduled for Eid 2026, and the makers have announced it along with Dhurandhar. However, the story of Dhurandhar 2 will tell the story of Bade Saheb, along with Uzair's violence and foray into politics. Hamza's story is expected to be explored.
