Ever since reports of Ranbir Kapoor leading Dhoom 4 surfaced, fans have been curious to know who would don the director’s hat. However, the excitement seems to have vanished after Bollywood Hungama reported Vijay Krishna Acharya as the confirmed director.
Fans took to the comment section of the announcement post and slammed the director for giving back to back flops in the past. For the unversed, Vijay directed films such as Thugs of Hindostan, The Great Indian Family and third instalment of the Dhoom Franchise, starring Aamir Khan, which did not meet the audience’s expectations.
One of the comments read, “I won’t allow this guy to sit and write one page after what he did on Thugs of Hindustan …Ranbir deserves a crazy good Director.” Another fan highlighted the reason why Dhoom 3 worked, and did not credit the director for it. “IDK what YRF is thinking. Dhoom 3 became blockbuster because of franchise hype. His Tashan and Thugs of Hindustan were not only disasters but badly made movies too.”
Other expressed disappointment and wrote, “Dhoom 4 will be a flop”, “Flop in the making”, “Have They Seen His Last 2 Films, At least Siddharth Anand Ko Consider Karte Now I Am Doubtful Regarding #Dhoom4.”
Vijay has been associated with Dhoom franchise since the very beginning. He wrote the script of Dhoom 1, 2 and 3 along with the dialogues and screenplay. Pointing that out, a fan commented, “Dhoom Franchise hai Blockbuster toh ho hi jayega but RK plz get this Victor out of Dhoom 4 … He is a good dialogue writer but as a director he’s terrible…”
While they expressed disappointment over Vijay’s name, many came up with good suggestions as well. “Best directors for Dhoom series can be Siddharth Anand, Bejoy Nambiar, Atlee,” wrote one. Many also requested to bring on board a good director from down south.
No official announcement has been made by the makers yet, but response towards the speculated name does not look good.
