Released in 1975, the action-adventure film Sholay was directed by Ramesh Sippy. Now, 50 years have passed since the film’s release, and the film, titled Sholay: The Final Cut, was released on December 12th. In light of this, Ramesh Sippy recently revealed details about the film’s climax. In an interview with News18, Ramesh Sippy spoke about the climax scene in Sholay, in which the late superstar Dharmendra fires a loaded gun, and the bullet passes close to Amitabh Bachchan. What happened next will leave you in shock.
Dharmendra accidentally fired a bullet at Big B
Ramesh Sippy said, “It happened during the climax. That’s when he picks up the bullet, loads it, and fires it. He wasn’t supposed to fire… he was just supposed to load the gun. But he picked it up and fired. Amitabh Bachchan was standing there, and that was his position at the top, and the bullet passed close to him.”
When Dharmendra apologised to cameraman
The director explained that the cameraman refused to shoot. He said, “Jim Allen, the action cameraman, said, ‘I won’t shoot.’ He said, ‘If actors behave like this, it can’t happen on my set. I don’t want any accidents here.'” Shooting was canceled that day, and we calmed him down and convinced him. We also explained to Dharmendra that it’s fine to be in a good mood, but you can’t shoot when there’s a chance of an accident. He agreed. He apologized to Jim and Amigi, and everything was fine. Although it wasn’t intentional, it just happened.
