Deepika Padukone will not be a part of the sequel to ‘Kalki 2898 AD’. The makers have officially announced the news on their official social media page. The reason for Deepika’s parting ways from the film has not been revealed.
Announcing the news, the official page of Vyjayanthi Movies shared, “This is to officially announce that @deepikapadukone will not be a part of the upcoming sequel of #Kalki2898AD. After careful consideration, We have decided to part ways. Despite the long journey of making the first film, we were unable to find a partnership. And a film like @Kalki2898AD deserves that commitment and much more. We wish her the best with her future works.”

Apart from Deepika, the movie also starred Amitabh Bachchan and Prabhas in the lead roles. Disha Patani and Kamal Haasan were seen in pivotal roles but had short appearances. The cast also included Brahmanandam, Rajendra Prasad, Shobana, Pasupathy, Anil George, Saswata Chatterjee and Anna Ben. Keerthy Suresh was the voice of Bujji, an AI vehicle.
Several popular stars, including Malvika Nair, Mrunal Thakur, Ram Gopal Varma, Dulquer Salmaan, SS Rajamouli, Vijay Deverakonda and many more had cameo roles. The actress is yet to react to her not being the part the sequel.

This is not the first time Deepika has parted ways with a Telugu project. She was roped in for Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film ‘Spirit’ but things did not materialise. After her exit, the filmmaker penned a cryptic note, “When I narrate a story to an actor, I place 100% faith. There is an unsaid NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement) between us. But by doing this, You’ve ‘DISCLOSED’ the person that you are…. Putting down a Younger actor and ousting my story? Is this what your feminism stands for ? As a filmmaker, I put years of hard work behind my craft & for me, filmmaking is everything. You didn’t get it. You won’t get it. You will never get it. Aisa karo…. Agli baar poori kahani bolna… kyunki mujhe jarra bhi farak nahi padtha. #dirtyPRgames I like this kahawath very much खुंदक में बिल्ली खंबा नोचे !”
This post came after it was reported that Deepika left ‘Spirit’ due to some bold scenes in the film. The report by Pinkvilla stated, “Sandeep Reddy Vanga wanted to cast an actress, who would be comfortable with the sequences written on paper. He has promised a comfortable and professional atmosphere on the sets amidst the shoot to Tripti.”
Meanwhile, Deepika will star in another Telugu movie with Atlee and Allu Arjun.
