De De Pyaar De 2 vs Kaantha box office expectations day 1: Which film will dominate theatres this week? Deets inside

This Friday, two big films have been released in theatres: ‘De De Pyaar De 2’ and ‘Kaantha’. Both films have a huge star cast, but have different concepts and genres. Kaantha stars Dulquer Salmaan in the lead, whereas De De Pyaar De 2 features Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet as the protagonists.

De De Pyaar De vs Kaantha box office expectations day 1:

According to the website Sacnilk, De De Pyaar De 2 is expected to collect Rs 8 to 10 crore on day 1. This is a decent number for the film, but it might have difficulty crossing the earnings of its first part. De De Pyaar De 1 earned Rs 10.40 crore on its opening day.

The earnings of De De Pyaar De 2 are dependent on the good word of mouth of the film.

Although De De Pyaar De 2 and Kaantha have been released on the same day, they are not competing in theatres. Ajay Devgn-starrer is focusing on the North belt, whereas Dulquer Salmaan’s film will target the South Indian theatres. According to Asianet News, Kaantha is likely to earn Rs 7 to 9 crore on day 1 across all languages. The movie might cross Rs 25 crore in the first week.

About Kaantha:

The movie also stars Samuthirakani, Bhagyashri Borse and Rana Daggubati in the lead roles.

The movie is set in the 1950s, in Madras and focuses on he legendary director in Tamil, Ayya, and his strained relationship with T. K. Mahadevan, a film star he helped establish. Things take a different turn when Mahadevan renames a female-focused film production that was previously called ‘Shaantha’ to suit his own image to ‘Kaantha’.

About De De Pyaar De 2:

The movie also stars R Madhavan, Meezaan Jafri, Gautami Kapoor, Ishita Dutta, and Jaaved Jaaferi in pivotal roles. It is directed by Anshul Sharma and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Luv Ranjan, and Ankur Garg.

Meanwhile, its first part starred Ajay Devgn, Tabu and Rakul Preet in the lead roles with Javed Jaffrey, Jimmy Sheirgill, Alok Nath and Kumud Mishra in supporting roles. The movie focused on Ashish Mehra, a 50-year-old NRI investor and a divorcee, who falls in love with a 26-year-old independent woman, Aisha. Despite several problems and opposition from Ashish’s family and ex-wife Manju, the couple ended up together.

In the sequel, the plot will shift its focus to Ashish trying to get approval from Aisha’s family.
