DDLJ box office day 2: The national cinema chains earlier announced, in collaboration with Yash Raj Films, that the 1995 cult hit DDLJ or Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge will be re-released in properties during Valentine’s Day week. The legendary romance drama, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol as Raj and Simran, was re-released on restricted screens and has continued to draw audiences on the big screen 28 years later.
The Aditya Chopra-directed film earned Rs 2.50 lakh in three chains on February 10, followed by a 300 percent increase on February 11 to earn Rs 10 lakh. The collections on February 11 are also projected to be in the Rs 10 lakh level, bringing the three-day weekend total to Rs 22.50 lakh. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’s earnings will skyrocket on February 14, Valentine’s Day, with the film potentially grossing Rs 20 lakh. Overall, DDLJ will aim for Rs 60 lakh in its week-long run, which is extraordinary for a picture that debuted in theatres in 1995.
