Superstar Rajinikanth returned to the big screen with his most anticipated film, ‘Coolie’, which has become a hit. Despite receiving a mixed response, the movie had a glorious run in theatres and is still making good numbers at the box office. Amid the talks about the film’s earnings, there has been a lot of speculation regarding its OTT release.
Coolie OTT Release Update:
According to reports, ‘Coolie’ will arrive on Prime Video after its theatrical run. The makers have not officially announced the film’s OTT release date yet. ‘Coolie’ is likely to release on OTT in October or November 2025, as the movies usually have a 45 to 60-day OTT window.

Apart from Rajinikanth, ‘Coolie’ also stars Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, Rachita Ram, Reba Monica John, Junior MGR, Kanna Ravi, Monisha Blessy and Kaali Venkat. Aamir Khan was seen in a cameo role. The movie is produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.
Its plot focused on Deva, who is a former gold smuggler but is now working as a coolie. He seeks to regain his past glory by reviving his old gang with stolen technology hidden in vintage golden watches, leading to unintended consequences.
‘Coolie’ was also in the news after it received an ‘A’ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The A certification has been given to the film due to its violent scenes, and this came as a surprise for the audience, as Lokesh’s earlier movies ‘Leo’ and ‘Vikram’ got the ‘U/A’ certificate.
As per reports, Rajinikanth will team up with Lokesh again for an exciting film with Kamal Haasan. According to a report by Deccan Herald, the project is likely to be a gangster drama and will be backed by Kamal Haasan under his production house. The plot will reportedly focus on the ageing gangsters, whose pasts collide again.
