New Delhi: Amid severe criticism over Ranveer Singh’s recent nude photoshoot, a complaint has been registered against the actor in Mumbai’s Chembur Police Station on Monday. The complaint was made against the Gunday actor for posting nude pictures on his Instagram account. Police have yet to register an FIR.
As per reports, the complaint was registered by an NGO called Shyam Mangaram foundation at Chembur Police Station under section 67A of the IT Act along with sections 292, 293, 354, and 509 of the Indian Penal Code for hurting sentiments and insulting the modesty of a woman.
“Ranveer Singh’s pictures were clicked in such manner that any male or female will feel ashamed about it,” read the complaint.
The complaint stated that actors are called ‘Nayak’ in India and have a massive following, adding that some people even worship actors like gods. The NGO claims that actors can’t do acts at the cost of the sentiments of the people. “We always support that there should be freedom of speech and expression that doesn’t mean that you should roam nude in society.”
Ranveer Singh is hitting the headlines ever since his nude photo shoot with Paper Magazine went viral over social media. His recent photoshoot was a tribute to the 70s’ pop icon Burt Reynolds.
Arjun Kapoor has spoken up for Ranveer, when the latter was asked about his take on Ranveer’s latest photoshoot. Arjun said, “When he comes in, there’s warmth, there’s enjoyment, there’s energy. Woh unki personality ka extension hain. Unki marzi hain, unka social media. Unhe sahi lagta hain iss waqt to be in that way that he wants to be. He wants to celebrate being comfortable in his own skin. I think we should respect that. Having an opinion is fair. I think trolls ko importance deni hi nahi chahiye zindagi mein because Kuch toh log kahenge, unka kaam hain kehna. Aapko jo theek lagta hain, aapko karna chahiye.”
