Alia Bhatt has reacted to the online backlash following her sixth Filmfare Best Actress win for her performance in Jigra. While many questioned whether she deserved the award, Alia took to Instagram to share a heartfelt note of gratitude, calling the honour “closest to her heart.”
“This one will always stay closest to my heart … not just for the story we told, but for the incredible people who gave it life.” she wrote, thanking director Vasan Bala, co-star Vedang Raina, and her team for their support. “@vasanbala, thank you for seeing it the way you did. @vedangraina, #VivekGomber, #ManojPahwa, @yuvvrajviijan, @dheerhira… thank you for the honesty you brought to every frame.”
Expressing her appreciation to Filmfare for the recognition, she added, “I wish I could’ve been there to hold that moment in person, but my heart is full all the same.”
“So grateful to @filmfare for the honour, and to everyone who found a piece of themselves in this film.
I wish I could’ve been there to hold that moment in person, but my heart is full all the same,” she further wrote, while adding, “It felt truly full circle @karanjohar, @dharmamovies, @grish1234, and @eternalsunshineproduction coming together for this one. And I’ll always be thankful for my real-life Jigra, @shaheenb, for being my calm through it all.”
Alia ended her post with a line from the film’s song Tenu Sang Rakhna: “For now, all I can say is ‘Taara na disse, ya chaann kho jaawe. Tenu sang rakhna.’”

However, her win has stirred debate across social media, with users arguing that Filmfare continues to favour Alia over other actresses. “At least, they should stop nominating other actresses, it’s disrespectful to them, or scrap the best actress category and officially declare Alia as the forever winner,” one Reddit comment read, while another noted, “Alia Bhatt single-handedly made me a Filmfare hater. Does she REALLY deserve these many awards?”. “Things like these are the reason she will never be likable no matter how big she becomes as an actress,” another one added.
