Nancy Tyagi, an influencer, was approached by Sonam Kapoor to design her outfit after receiving widespread attention for her Cannes ensembles. Nancy responded to the “blind” actor on her Instagram stories. The Delhi-based influencer received praise online for representing India on the global stage in her two stunning outfits, both designed and tailored by her.
Nancy made her debut at Cannes wearing a heavily-frilled powder pink gown weighing 20kg. For her next appearance, she wore a saree with a veil, which she had also stitched herself. She sourced the materials for her outfits from local markets in Delhi. Sonam Kapoor reposted Nancy’s video of making the Cannes saree on Instagram and wrote, “Best outfit in Cannes. Make me something”, tagging Nancy in the post.

She then shared her second look at the international film festival and what went into the making of her draped saree. Another all-encompassing creation: I wore it to a special event at my second Cannes Film Festival outfit. This ensemble is an intricately hand-embroidered sari. Each piece is meticulously crafted and assembled,” wrote Nancy.
Apart from several influencers making their Cannes debut, Bollywood celebrities such as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Kiara Advani, and Urvashi Rautela took to the red carpet this year.
