V enlisted in the military on December 11, 2023, and will be discharged from his service on June 10, 2023, along with BTS’ leader RM.
In an earlier interaction with his fans, V talked about his love for art and how it helps to express himself. He said, “When it comes to art, I think it is something that can express more than words. When I want to speak but can’t express myself in words, I think there are things that can be expressed instead of words; whether it’s through painting, photography, or performance art. It seems to fit in a bit better with me. With actions rather than words; and I like to hand over something more than words, and I think it feels good.”

The singer also released his solo song ‘FRI(END)S’ after enlisting in the military. He was later in the music video ‘Love Wins All’ in collaboration with K-pop idol and actress IU.
