BTS’s Jungbook who is currently fulfilling his mandatory military service, recently found himself at the centre of a shocking fraud case. According to reports, an anonymous hacker illegally accessed his bank account and transferred approximately 8.4 billion won which is around $5.7 million in HYBE shares without his consent. This case had raised concerns among fans and public as it involves on of the biggest names in the K-pop industry.
How The Fraud Took Place?
Media reports reveal that the hacker created three unauthorised security accounts under Jungbook’s name on January 6, 2024 and by using these fake accounts he illegally transferred 33,500 HYBE shares out of which 500 shares were sold to a third party while the remaining 33,000 shares which valued at approximately 8.31 Billion KRW remained under the hacker’s control.
Court Rules In Jungkook’s Favour
After the case was taken to court, the Seoul Western District Court ruled in Jungkook’s favour in February 2024, ordering that all stolen shares be returned to him. The verdict came as a relief for the BTS celebrity and his lawyers, with the guarantee that justice had been served.

BigHit Music Responds To The Case
After the court’s decision , BigHit Music, Jungkook’s management company, made an official statement regarding the issue. Although they did not reveal more information, they confirmed that Jungkook’s assets were safe and that legal measures had been taken against the offender.
