New Delhi: The eldest member of the South Korean boy band BTS, Jin, bid farewell to a number of his fans on Tuesday morning as he reported for his required military service. Before departing for his service, the 30-year-old vocalist posted a message to ARMY, BTS’s fan club, on the online fan community Weverse.
“Now it’s curtain call time,” he wrote in Korean in reference to a character called ‘Jhin’ in the video game ‘League of Legends’. “I wanted to do it when I went to the army,” said Jin, who is a gaming enthusiast.
Leader of BTS Kim Nam-joon shared a heart-felt note on his official Twitter handle. He wrote, “thank you for all the memories, you left and it hurt so much but the only way to move on was to accept it, thank you for showing up one day and changing my world forever, i will miss you i will wait for you for as long as i have to wait, i love you jin. ”

Later that day, the band’s official Twitter account published a picture of RM, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook sending Jin off to the enlistment centre. My brother! Please return safely. Love you,” was said in the post’s caption.
On Monday, the BTS management company BigHit Music had announced that Jin will pull up to the grounds of the recruit training facility in a vehicle without introducing himself to the press or fans separately. Additionally, the Seoul-based business had pleaded with the ARMY and the media to avoid overcrowding the place.
BTS, most known for the songs Blood Sweat Tears, DNA, Idol, as well as the Grammy-nominated English songs Dynamite, Butter, and most recently “My Universe” with British rock band Coldplay, had declared their break in June. After their service obligation, they want to reunite as a group around 2025.
