Junior Mehmood: Renowned Bollywood actor Junior Mehmood on Friday passed away at the age of 67 after a long battle with cancer.
The actor, whose career spanned over five decades with over 250 films to his credit, passed away at his Mumbai home last night. His battle with stage 4 cancer, disclosed two weeks ago, took a turn for the worse, leading to his demise.
Known as Junior Mehmood, Naeem Sayyed contributed to numerous blockbuster movies such as ‘Kati Patang,’ ‘Mera Naam Joker,’ ‘Parvarish,’ and ‘Do Aur Do Paanch.’ His acting journey commenced as a child artist in the movie ‘Naunihal’ alongside stalwarts like Sanjeev Kumar, Balraj Sahni, and Indrani Mukherjee in 1967. Since then, he adopted the moniker Junior Mehmood, leaving an indelible mark on cinema. Additionally, he ventured into producing Marathi films alongside his prolific acting career.
In his final days, comedian Johnny Lever visited him, prompting Junior Mehmood to express his wish to meet actors Jeetendra and Sachin Pilgaonkar. Both stars fulfilled his request, having shared the screen with him in various films. Sachin and Junior Mehmood collaborated on movies such as ‘Bachpan,’ ‘Geet Gaata Chal,’ and ‘Brahmachari.’ Moreover, beyond the silver screen, he actively participated in stage shows across India and abroad.
