The much awaited Bigg Boss Telugu Season 9, hosted by Nagarjuna Akkineni, premiered on September 7 on Star Maa and JioHotstar. With the official contestants entering the house for the first time, among them, actress Flora Saini caught attention with her entry into the reality show.
Who Is Flora Saini?
Flora Saini was born Asha Saini in Chandigarh. Her family later moved to Kolkata, where she started a modeling career and even took part in the Miss Kolkata beauty pageant. For a while, she used the screen name Mayuri based on an astrologer’s advice, but later went back to her original name.
She made her Telugu film debut with Prema Kosam in 1999 and became widely known as Lux Papa after her song Narasimha Naidu became very popular in 2002. Flora has also acted in movies like Stree (2018) and has worked with famous actors including Venkatesh, Balakrishna, Sudeep, Shivarajkumar, Vijayakanth, Prabhu, Karthik, Jagapati Babu, and Rajasekhar.
Apart from films, Flora is a popular name in OTT as she has featured in Gandii Baat, Inside Edge, Dupur Thakurpo, Mayanagari: City of Dreams, Aarya, Rana Naidu, The Trial and many more.
Flora Saini and the #MeToo Moment
In 2018, Flora Saini made news when she said her ex-boyfriend, producer Gaurang Doshi, was abusive during their live-in relationship. In an interview with News18, she talked about what happened to her and compared her experience to the Shraddha Walkar case in Delhi, showing how warning signs are often ignored in abusive relationships. Flora recalled, “Your parents see the red flags. In Shraddha’s case as well, the same happened. They first cut you out from your family. I also left my home, and within a week of moving in with him, I was being bashed up. I couldn’t understand why he was beating me suddenly because, in my eyes, he was a really nice guy.”

The season theme is “Double Houses”, with commoners positioned as Owners in the luxurious main Bigg Boss house, while celebrities are relegated to a smaller house with limited amenities as Tenants.
The season features nine celebrity contestants: Thanuja Puttaswamy, Flora Saini, Sanjjanaa Galrani, Emmanuel (Jabardasth Emmanuel), Shrasti Verma, Bharani Shankar, Rithu Chowdary, Ramu Rathod, and Suman Setty. They are joined by six commoner contestants making their Bigg Boss debut: Kalyan Padala, Harita Harish, Demon Pavan, Sreeja Dammu, Priya Shetty, and Maryada Manish.
The show will air on Star Maa from Monday to Friday at 9:30 PM and on weekends at 9 PM. Users can stream it online on JioHotstar.
