The much awaited Bigg Boss Telugu Season 9, hosted by Nagarjuna Akkineni, premiered on September 7 on Star Maa and JioHotstar. This season brings a new twist for the first time ever, common people are competing with celebrities, with the theme ‘Owners vs Tenants’ in two separate houses.
Celebrity Contestants
The season features nine celebrity participants:
- Thanuja Puttaswamy: TV actor known for Mounaragam, Agnipariksha, and Legally Veer.
- Flora Saini: Popular actor from South and Hindi films; seen in Rana Naidu and The Trial.
- Sanjjanaa Galrani: Telugu and Kannada actor who made headlines during a 2020 drug case.
- Emmanuel (Jabardasth Emmanuel): Known for comedy skits on Jabardasth.
- Shrasti Verma: Former assistant choreographer to Jani Master, later turned actor.
- Bharani Shankar: TV actor from Karthika Deepam and films like Aaviri and Waltair Veerayya.
- Rithu Chowdary: Popular face from Prema Entha Madhuram and Inti Guttu.
- Ramu Rathod: Folk singer behind hits like Pacha Bottu and Diya Diya Re.
- Suman Setty: Comedian known since 7G Brundavan Colony (2004).
Commoner Contestants
Joining them are six commoners, entering the Bigg Boss house for the first time:
- Kalyan Padala: Army veteran turned influencer, selected through Bigg Boss Agnipariksha.
- Harita Harish: YouTuber known for comedy skits, also part of Agnipariksha.
- Demon Pavan: Fitness creator and anime enthusiast.
- Sreeja Dammu: Dance and lifestyle vlogger.
- Priya Shetty: Doctor with acting aspirations.
- Maryada Manish: Startup co-founder featured in Forbes 30 Under 30.

The season theme is “Double Houses”, with commoners positioned as Owners in the luxurious main Bigg Boss house, while celebrities are relegated to a smaller house with limited amenities as Tenants.
The show will air on Star Maa from Monday to Friday at 9:30 PM and on weekends at 9 PM. Users can stream it online on JioHotstar which offers 24/7 live streaming access.
