In a shocking turn of events, Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana and filmmaker-music composer Palash Muchhal have officially called off their wedding that was scheduled to take place on November 23. Now, the removal of almost all hints about their relationship from social media has added to people’s curiosity.
Social Media clean-up after wedding cancellation
The first to act was Mandhana, when she deleted every post related to their pre-wedding celebrations, right from the viral proposal video to the intimate engagement moments. Palash later pulled down the proposal clip and a celebratory video featuring Mandhana after a World Cup win.
But not everything has vanished from his profile. A few posts remain, and those have now become magnets for negative comments and speculation-putting Muchhal under noticeable scrutiny.
Health issues triggered the first postponement.
The first postponement of the wedding came when Mandhana’s father was hospitalized on the very day the ceremony was to take place. Shortly afterward, Palash had his health-related setback. What started off as a perfectly understandable delay rapidly developed into furious public speculation, with rumors running wild way ahead of either party being able to respond.
Palash Muchhal issued statement
On December 7, Muchhal finally issued an emotional statement confirming the wedding was off. He wrote, “I have decided to move on in my life and step back from my personal relationship.” He also expressed disappointment over the online chatter, saying, “It’s been very difficult for me to see people react so easily on baseless rumours… I hope we learn to pause before judging someone based on unverified gossip.”
His message alluded to the personal cost of the past weeks, especially as screenshots began appearing online that seemed to suggest he had cheated-allegations that only heightened the public debate.
Smriti Mandhana requests privacy, confirms split
The same day, Mandhana, vice-captain of India and one of the most respected figures of the sport, issues her clear and composed statement.
“There has been plenty of speculation around my life. I need to clarify that the wedding is called off,” she wrote. Mandhana emphasized her desire for privacy, saying, “I request you to please respect the privacy of both families. and allow us the space to process and move on at our own pace.”
A private matter turned public
While both Mandhana and Muchhal called for sensitivity and space, the story has undeniably captured public attention. The social-media wipe of both, along with the swirl of rumors, created a perfect storm of speculation.
For now, each party is seeking to move on from the ordeal in private. It’s all one can do as a fan: respect that and wish both parties well, after what has quite obviously been a rather trying time in their lives.
