Bigg Boss 18: Farah Khan took over the Weekend Ka Vaar from Salman Khan and delivered strong reprimands to several contestants. Towards the end of the episode, Shilpa Shirodkar shared an interesting anecdote about her time in the film industry, recalling her rejection from the iconic song ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’.
Farah Khan, who hosted the Weekend Ka Vaar segment, took the opportunity to address several contestants for their misbehavior on the show. The shift from Salman Khan was a notable change in the usual format of the show.
Shilpa Shirodkar’s Revelation
As the episode drew to a close, Shilpa Shirodkar, in a candid conversation with Chum Darang and Karan Veer Mehra, revealed a behind-the-scenes story. Shilpa recounted her experience with Farah Khan when she was approached for the iconic song ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’, featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Malaika Arora. Shilpa shared that Farah asked her to lose weight in order to be featured in the song.
Karan Veer Mehra inquired if it was due to her failure to shed the extra pounds. Shilpa confirmed, stating Farah told her bluntly, “You are fat for the song.” This revelation led Karan Veer Mehra to burst into laughter. Subsequently, Malaika Arora was cast in the role opposite Shah Rukh Khan.
Karan Veer Mehra playfully questioned, “Would the train have stopped if you had climbed onto it?” Shilpa humorously responded that only Farah Khan and the director of ‘Dil Se’, Mani Ratnam, could explain why she was not selected for the song.
The ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’ song was part of Mani Ratnam’s film ‘Dil Se’ and was choreographed by Farah Khan. Featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Malaika Arora, the song remains one of Bollywood’s most iconic numbers.
