Bhool Chuk Maaf star Wamiqa Gabbi slams the idea that Instagram popularity influences casting, highlighting that acting talent matters more.

Actress Wamiqa Gabbi who is in headlines due to her upcoming film with Rajkumar Rao, titled ‘Bhool Chuk Maaf’. During her film’s promotions, she recently spoke about the pressure actors face regarding their social media presence.

In an recent interview with Zoom, Wamiqa called the idea of casting based on Instagram followers ‘stupid’.

Wamiqa straightly made it clear that talent should be the only top priority in casting and not the one’s online popularity. She said, “It is stupid to think that Instagram followings facilitate casting, If you want to fly a plane, you’ll hire a pilot, not just anyone. Similarly, you need actors who can act. Everything else is secondary.”

Followers Don’t Decide Box Office Success

She also highlighted that having a large number of followers doesn’t mean your film will do well. She explained, “Instagram followers don’t decide the box office of your film or how many people will watch it. If you don’t hire good actors, baat hi nahi banegi.”

About the Film

Bhool Chuk Maaf , directed by Karan Sharma, revolves around the theme of romantic comedy is set in Varanasi and features Rajkumar Rao as Ranjan and Wamiqa Gabbi as Titli. Just before the wedding of these two the things go hilariously wrong as Rajkumar rao gets stuck in a time loop- reliving the same day over and over again.
