AR Rahman: Indian classical music is a style of art that is deeply ingrained in Indian culture and is made up of melodies, customs, and history. A select few fortunate people have spread the art over the world and perfected it in a variety of professions. One such musical genius is AR Rahman.

Allah Rakha Rahman aka AR Rahman is one of the most prolific artists of India. A record producer, singer and songwriter, A R Rahman has composed the soundtracks for over 100 Indian films and is credited with more or less single-handedly revolutionising Indian film music.

About AR Rahman:

Born as Dileep Kumar, Rahman began studying piano at the age of 4.  Rahman assisted his father in the studio, playing the keyboard.. He was also a “highly gifted musical pioneer” and “an innovator.” He had a significant impact on his kid.

Rahman began his early musical training under Master Dhanraj, and at age 11 began playing in the orchestra of Malayalam composer (and close friend of his father) M. K. Arjunan. He soon began working with other composers, such as M. S. Viswanathan, Vijaya Bhaskar and accompanied Zakir Hussain, Kunnakudi Vaidyanathan and L. Shankar on world tours and obtained a scholarship from Trinity College London to the Trinity College of Music.

AR Rahman’s Journey:

Allah-Rakha Rahman, the son of a conductor and composer of film music in the Tamil and Malayalam film music industries, made his name by composing the songs and background music for the Tamil film Roja.

Many giants of cinema music have come from India, but the amount of international fame that Rahman has attained sets him apart from past superstar music directors like Naushad, Shankar-Jaikishen, R D Burman, or Ilaiyaraaja. Rahman’s conquest of the West is what makes him so exceptional.

The maestro’s famous work includes his soundtrack for Danny Boyle’s 2009 film, Slumdog Millionaire, which added two Oscars, a BAFTA, a Golden Globe Award and two Grammy Awards to his already dizzying array of awards back home in India.

AR Rahman’s Best Work

Rahman has been best recognised for fusing classical music with western music throughout his career. A.R. Rahman went on to become a prominent celebrity in the Tamil cinema business after Roja. His song “Chikku Bukku Rayile,” which appeared in the movie Gentleman, later became a well-known dancing hit. With Ram Gopal Varma’s Rangeela, A.R. Rahman made his Bollywood debut. Later, he composed popular soundtracks for movies like Taal and Dil Se. Rahman wrote the song Chaiyya Chaiyya, which sounds current and vibrant even now. A.R. Rahman founded AM Studios and unveiled KM Music, his record label, in 2005. In 2003, he composed the music for the Mandarin film Warriors of Heaven and Earth. Some of his other best works have been for Raanjhana, Dev D, and Atrangi Re.

A Shift Towards BJP's Aggressive Hindutva Amid Opposition's Leadership Crisis

The Maharashtra election may further push the Congress down as it has lost the election at a time when it needed a win most desperately. Though the Congress succeeded in pushing the BJP to a corner and stopping it at less than a majority on its own, it failed to make any headway further.
