Meghanathan was an Indian film actor who appeared in Malayalam and Tamil films. The son of actor Balan K. Nair, made his debut in films in 1983. The late actor has acted in more than 50 Malayalam films. The actor took his last breathe at a private hospital in Kozhikode. Late actor was admitted to the hospital due to lung-related illness. The actor’s funeral will take place at his residence in Shoranur on Thursday.
Minister for General Education of Kerala, V Sivankutty share his condolences and wrote on facebook. “The acting talent who gave a new look to the villain characters. Tributes to actor Meghanathan,” read the post along with a picture of the late actor.
Who Was Meghanathan?
Meghanathan was the third child of Balan K. Nair and Sarada Nair born in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Late actor, Meghanathan had five sibilings; two brothers, Anil and Ajayakumar, and two sisters, Latha and Sujtha. He was married to Susmitha and the couple have a daughter, Parvathi. Balan was known for his antagonist roles in films and was known for his portrayal of negative characters. He was known as one of the best villains of Malayalam cinema during that period.
On the professional front, Meghanathan made his debut with the film, Asthram. He acted in multiple films and his most memorable performances include roles in Panchagni, Chamayam, Rajadhani, Bhoomigeetham, Chenkol, Malappuram Haji Mahanaya Joji, and Prayikkara Pappan.
He was also a familiar face on television and acted in popular series like Sthreetvam, Meghasandesham, Kathayariyathe, Snehanjali, and Chitta. His most recent film appearance was in Samadhana Pusthakam, released this year.
