Shilpa Shetty was reported to have landed in legal trouble after the rumours of Income Tax raid at her Mumbai residence surfaced on the internet. However, the actress, via her lawyer, has clarified that there was no raid at her property but the income tax officials visited for routine verification. Advocate Prashant Patil has issued an official statement to dismiss all the rumours regarding any raid.
Shilpa’s lawyer, Advocate Prashant Patil, said in an official statement, “On behalf of my client Mrs. Shilpa Shetty Kundra, I can confirm that there is no Income Tax “Raid” of whatsoever nature against my client. There is a routine verification by the income tax officials pertaining to follow up with my client Mrs Shilpa Shetty Kundra. Whomsoever has mischievously claimed in public domain that these developments have anything to do with the alleged Economic Offence Wing case shall face legal consequences before the appropriate court of law. At the cost of repetition my client Mrs Shilpa Shetty Kundra states that there is no income tax “RAID” at her place.”
As per earlier reports, Income tax searches were held on entities owned and operated by Bollywood actor, Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra. According to India Today, the focus was on Bastian Hospitality and raids were reportedly held at company’s outlets and their residences.
Earlier, she was questioned for about 4.5 hours by Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) for her alleged involvement in the Rs 60 crore fraud case.
Businessman Deepak Kothari alleged that Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra cheated him out of more than Rs 60 crores. He claimed that the money was used on personal expenses when it was given for business expansion between 2015 and 2023.
Kundra reportedly claimed that he paid a part of Rs 60 crore to Neha Dhupia and Bipasha Basu as fees. But later, he maintained his silence, leading EOW to plan further questioning.
Later, it was also reported that a portion of Rs 60 crore was transferred to Shilpa Shetty but her lawyer dismissed the allegations.
