Former Maharashtra Minister Baba Siddique was shot dead outside his son MLA Zeeshan Siddique’s office on Saturday night. The Mumbai police reportedly arrested two suspects, who claimed their connection to Lawrence Bishnoi. After the shocking incident, the security outside Salman Khan’s residence has been increased. For the unversed, Salman Khan shared a close friendship with Baba Siddique. Bollywood star has been the target of Lawrence Bishnoi since 1998 after the black buck hunting case.
In the latest video that surfaced on social media, several police officials were seen standing outside Salman Khan’s residence in Mumbai. Meanwhile, on April 14, 2024, two motorcycle riders opened fire outside Salman’s Galaxy Apartment in the Bandra area of Mumbai. The police alleged that the suspects were involved with Lawrence Bishnoi. Baba Siddique is also said to have received a death threat and was put under ‘Y’ category security, but he didn’t report it to the police.
According to the police, three youths carried out the assassination on the night of Dussehra 2024. Two accused arrested hailed from Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, police said. The third one is absconding. They reportedly arrived in an auto-rickshaw and waited for the right moment to carry out the attack. Sources within the Mumbai Police Crime Branch claimed the two arrested persons have been doing recce in Bandra East for the shooting spot for nearly a month.

Baba Siddique was the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and had served three terms as MLA from Bandra (East). He recently joined the faction led by Ajit Pawar of the Nationalist Congress Party after leaving the Congress party. He was friends with several Bollywood stars and hosted an iftar party on Eid every year. His party was attended by several popular actors including Shah Rukh Khan and Salman.
Salman Khan, and Bollywood actors Zaheer Iqbal and Shilpa Shetty visited the Lilavati hospital after Baba Siddique was shot.
