On Friday, September 5, two Bollywood films and two Hollywood titles clashed at the Indian box office. While Tiger Shroff and Sanjay Dutt’s action thriller Baaghi 4 released alongside Vivek Agnihotri’s political drama The Bengal Files, Hollywood brought in the horror flick The Conjuring: Last Rites and another big international release.
Despite low pre-release hype and mixed audience reactions, Baaghi 4 managed to mint more money than The Bengal Files. Here’s a look at how both Bollywood films performed at the ticket counters.
Baaghi 4 Box Office Collection Day 2:
Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi 4 got off to a strong start at the box office. On Day 1 (Friday), the film collected Rs 12 crore, followed by an estimated Rs 9 crore on Day 2 (Saturday). With this, the total collection for the film now stands at Rs 21 crore in just two days.
About Baaghi 4
Directed by Kannada filmmaker A Harsha, Baaghi 4 marks his Bollywood debut and is slated to release on September 5, 2025. The film will also face competition at the box office, clashing with Vivek Agnihotri’s The Bengal Files.
The Baaghi franchise began in 2016 with Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor, and although parts 1 and 2 were commercial hits, Baaghi 3 received a lukewarm response due to the pandemic’s impact on theatres.
The Bengal Files Box Office Collection Day 2:
The Bengal Files had a modest start at the box office. On Day 1 (Friday), the film earned Rs 1.75 crore, while on Day 2 (Saturday) it showed slight growth with early estimates of Rs 2.25 crore. This takes the total collection of the film to Rs 4 crore in two days.
The film’s release was surrounded by controversy, especially in West Bengal. At the Kolkata launch, the trailer was not played, and reports say no theatres in the state screened the movie. Director Vivek Agnihotri alleged that theatre owners were pressured to avoid showing it. Actress Pallavi Joshi took the matter further, writing an open letter to the President of India, calling it an “unofficial ban,” even though the censor board had raised no objections.
