New Delhi: The long-awaited sequel to 2009’s ‘Avatar’ has finally arrived in theatres. Avatar 2 or Avatar: The Way of Water was released on December 16 in numerous Indian regional languages for the first time. It also screened on over 52000 screens worldwide.
The original ‘Avatar’ dazzled viewers with groundbreaking 3D technology that brought the lush moon Pandora and its blue, 9-foot-tall Na’vi inhabitants to life. With $2.9 billion in global ticket sales, the 2009 picture remains the highest-grossing film in history.
While, Avatar: The Way of Water received mixed responses from early reviews from Western critics, here are the celebrity reviews for the same.
Film director Anand L Rai said, “When I was coming to watch this film, we were talking about James Cameron. It took me to a new world and experience. It’s not a film, it’s an experience where I really enjoyed the story telling, so much to learn and thank you James Cameron for making this brilliant experience.”
Varun Dhawan after attending the screening said that the movie “is by far the most important film for the future of cinema.”
#AvatarTheWayOfWater is by far the most important film for the future of cinema. Was blown away by the visuals and the emotions. It’s amazing when the biggest filmmaker of the world chooses his film to give an important message. I wanna see it again in imax 3d @Disney

The trade pundits have estimated that the film’s first weekend in China might be as high as $200 million. After its first three days in theatres, the movie’s total overseas forecast is expected to be between $35 million and $400 million.
Avatar 2 is aiming to surpass Avengers: Endgame in India, where it now holds the record for the highest-grossing Hollywood film there.
Meawhile, Twitter is flooded with positive reviews and reactions of netizens. A user tweeted, “So you want my Avatar 2 review? Well I’ll keep it short and sweet… you will FEEL! It’s a magical experience that I think most will enjoy more than the first, but the same ground breaking visuals. Fantastic work by James Cameron and I recommend everyone see it in a theater.”
Another wrote, “Avatar 2 Review.. In a lot of ways it is the first movie again. A lot more heart and centered around family. Missing James Horner for sure! Great military tech. Astounding 3D visuals, a must see for that alone. I watched blue people for 3 hours!”
