New Delhi: The first weekend at the box office is anticipated to bring in enormous sums for Avatar: The Way of Water. On Friday, December 16, the James Cameron-directed film will have a global premiere. The fact that Avatar 2 is also being released in China on the same day only increases its chances of breaking box office records.

The trade website sacnilk said that the movie’s opening weekend worldwide projection is approximately $550 million, which has never been seen or heard of before. Avatar 2 is anticipated to gross between $175 and $200 million in its opening weekend in North America alone. This amount is roughly three times as much as Avatar’s 2009 box office take.

The trade pundits have estimated that the film’s first weekend in China might be as high as $200 million. After its first three days in theatres, the movie’s total overseas forecast is expected to be between $35 million and $400 million.
