James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash has opened to a decent but not massive start at the Indian box office. The film released in theatres on Friday, December 19, and has seen steady audience turnout so far. However, its performance has been slightly affected by the strong run of Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar, which continues to attract large crowds.
Despite high expectations from the popular Avatar franchise, early box office trends suggest a stable opening rather than a blockbuster start. According to Sacnilk, the film crossed the Rs 50 crore mark in India within its first two days.

Avatar: Fire and Ash box office collection day 2:
On Day 1, Fire and Ash earned around Rs 23.25 crore. While this is a good number, it is lower than what is usually expected from an Avatar film. The film showed some improvement on Saturday, with Day 2 collections rising by about 15 per cent to nearly Rs 22.35 crore net.

The English version performed the best, especially in cities and premium theatres. On Day 2, English shows earned around Rs 10.50 crore, followed by the Hindi version with about Rs 6.25 crore. The Tamil and Telugu versions also did well, earning close to Rs 3 crore and Rs 2.50 crore respectively.
In total, the film earned about Rs 26.57 crore gross on its second day. English shows contributed around Rs 12.60 crore, Hindi shows added about Rs 7.50 crore, while Tamil and Telugu versions brought in Rs 3.48 crore and Rs 2.88 crore. The film ran with an average occupancy of 23.8 per cent across 5,091 shows in India.
Even with this steady start, Avatar: Fire and Ash is performing slower than Avatar: The Way of Water did at the same time. The previous film had earned nearly Rs 100 crore in India within its first two days in 2022.
