A video of Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, who tragically passed away on Friday, September 19, is making rounds on social media. The clip shows the final moments of Garg he was preparing for a Scuba diving session. He is seen adjusting his life jacket and about to step into the water. The untimely demise of the 51-year-old singer in Singapore has left the people of Assam in deep grief. Large crowds of fans and well-wishers gathered outside his residence in Guwahati on Saturday to pay their respects.
The video has been shared by user, Jyoti Prasad Nath on X, with caption: “Zubeen Garg's last video.” As the video went viral, netizens expressed their condolences, with many stating that they are still in shock. Earlier in the day, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed that Garg’s post mortem has been completed. CM Sarma wrote on X, “Update- The post-mortem of our beloved Zubeen Garg has been completed in Singapore. His mortal remains are now being handed over to the accompanying team -- Shri Shekar Jothi Goswami, Shri Sandeepan Garg, and Shri Siddharth Sharma (Manager) -- in the presence of officers from the Indian Embassy.”

On Friday, the Northeast India Festival, in its statement, confirmed that Garg had developed serious breathing issues during the scuba diving session. "He was immediately given CPR before being rushed to Singapore General Hospital. Despite efforts to save him, he was declared deceased in the ICU around 2:30 PM IST," the statement added.

As the tragic news broke, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also offered his condolences to his family. He wrote on X, “Shocked by the sudden demise of popular singer Zubeen Garg. He will be remembered for his rich contribution to music. His renditions were very popular among people across all walks of life. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti.”
