Two films are currently making a big impact at the Indian box office. You’ve probably heard of Akshaye Khanna and Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar. But there’s another South Indian film that’s also getting a lot of attention. In just 6 days, it has crossed Rs 100 crore worldwide. So, what’s this movie?
Akhanda 2: Thaandavam, the sequel to the 2021 action film Akhanda, was released on December 12th. In just 7 days, it earned Rs 76.75 crore in India and more than Rs 100 crore worldwide. The film stars Nandamuri Balakrishna and continues the story from the first film.

Akhanda 2: Thaandavam has made an impressive impact at the box office in its first week, collecting a total of Rs 76.75 crore in India. The film had a strong start, with Rs 8 crore on Day 0 (Thursday), followed by a remarkable Rs 22.5 crore on Day 1 (Friday). However, the collections saw a decline over the weekend, with Rs 15.5 crore on Saturday, a slight dip of 31.11%, and Rs 15.1 crore on Sunday, dropping by just 2.58%. The weekdays, however, showed significant drops, with Rs 5.25 crore on Monday (-65.23%), Rs 4.25 crore on Tuesday (-19.05%), Rs 3.3 crore on Wednesday (-22.35%), and Rs 2.85 crore on Thursday (-13.64%).

The movie was earlier supposed to release in theatres on December 5, 2025, but got postponed due to a stay order from the Madras High Court. It finally arrived in theatres on December 12.
Akhanda 2 also stars Samyuktha Menon, Aadhi Pinisetty, and Harshaali Malhotra. Directed by Boyapati Sreenu and produced by Ram Achanta, Gopi Achanta, and Ishan Saksena, its music is composed by Thaman S, cinematography handled by C Ramprasad and editing by Tammiraju.
Reports, including those from OTTPlay, suggest that Akhanda 2: Thaandavam will start streaming on Netflix after completing its theatrical run. While an official date is yet to be confirmed, it is expected to arrive around mid January 2026, roughly four weeks post release.
