Are The Videos Of Hysterical Viewers Watching ‘Saiyaara’ In Theatres Rigged?

Several viral videos show audiences breaking down while watching Saiyaara in theatres. This has sparked speculation about whether these emotional reactions are genuine or staged.

Several videos of hysterical viewers inside movie theatres watching Saiyaara have littered the internet, prompting many cynics to wonder if these emotional outbursts, far more dramatic than anything on screen, is part of a planned marketing strategy from the film’s producers Yash Raj Films.

A leading producer-director who has a release coming up says he is deeply impressed by Yash Raj’s marketing of Saiyaara. “The film is a blockbuster largely due to the blockbuster marketing. They decided to not allow the debutant lead pair do any interviews. This created an aggravated curiosity in the audience. Now we see viewers weeping and sobbing in movie theatres. Everyone wants a good cry at the cinema so very inspiring.”

Two actors from Saiyaara speaking exclusively to Subhash K Jha defended the allegedly planted videos.

Shaad Randhawa who plays the arrogant star-musician Prince says, “I think people from all age groups are relating to the movie and have connected to it! Whether it’s India or overseas the numbers speak for themselves. But having said that, we live in the world of social media and trends, where everything is Instagramable, there could be some people who are doing it for their reels or content. When a film becomes such a rage these things are bound to happen. Filmmakers are too professional and passionate to fall for the reel culture.”

Says Rajesh Kumar who plays the female lead’s father, “The tree laden with ripe fruits gets lots of stone pelted at it. I don’t think Yash Raj Films needs to stoop to all these kind of gimmicks, as Saiyaara is already a blockbuster.. I feel those kids who are making these videos are in search of instant REEL FAME. n they are trying to be creative in their own rights.”
