Anurag Kashyap Takes A Dig At T-Series, Says Label Paid Nothing For DevD: ‘They Don’t Buy Good Music At A Good Price’

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap took a jibe at music label T-Series and Bhushan Kumar for not valuing good music.

He took a jibe at Bhushan Kumar and T-Series and said, “If Bhushan Kumar [Managing Director of T-Series] is not buying it, then it is good music. If T-Series is not buying it, it is great music,” Kashyap quipped, adding bluntly, “T-Series doesn’t buy good music at a good price.”

Further, he claimed that he was paid very little for his cult movies like Gangs Of Wasseypur and DevD. The filmmaker revealed, “They paid very little money for the music of DevD, Gangs of Wasseypur, and Gulaal, and they made a lot of money from the music of those films. They only pay for the star in it. They don’t pay for the quality of music. They paid nothing for DevD’s track despite the film’s music being one of the cult soundtracks.”

“The highest amount of money they have paid me was for Bombay Velvet, and the film’s music didn’t work for them, but they still paid a lot. They don’t understand good music, and they will push only for a certain kind of music,” he added.

In the same interview, the ‘Sacred Games’ helmer revealed that he has moved out of Mumbai and is currently happy. He shared, “I don’t meet people who are constantly talking numbers. I have a different circle of people, and I have my books. I am back to how I was at the beginning.”
