After the blockbuster success of Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki in 2023, Shah Rukh Khan is all set to return to the big screen with King, a action thriller directed by Siddharth Anand. The film also stars Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Suhana Khan, Abhay Verma, Arshad Warsi, and Jaideep Ahlawat for a key role.
In a new development, Anil Kapoor has also has been confirmed for a key role in the film where he has been cast to play Khan’s mentor in the action packed entertainer. According to Pinkvilla, sources close to the development revealed “Shah Rukh Khan plays an assassin in King, Anil Kapoor will be seen as his handler. There were multiple actors considered for the part, but the team amicably feels that Anil Kapoor suits the role to the T. Anil is also excited to collaborate with Shah Rukh Khan on this mega-budget actioner.”
Pinkvilla further quoted the production source “The first schedule kicks off around May 20 in Mumbai, followed by an international leg in Europe. The film has been written keeping the theatrical sensibilities of the modern audience in mind, and presents Shah Rukh Khan like never before – raw, and rooted. The action sequences too are designed balancing style with raw-ness”
Sources close to the production have shared that the team feels Anil Kapoor is perfectly suited to the role of the mentor, which will be a important part of the story.
The film is currently in the pre-production stage and is expected to go on floors on May 18 in Mumbai, with major sequences planned across India and Europe. The film is reportedly to hit the big screen in between October and December 2026.
