The recent clash between Anees Bazmee’s horror comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Rohit Shetty’s action film Singham Again during Diwali sparked a major industry discussion. Both films, released on the same day, faced tough competition at the box office. Anees Bazmee, the director of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, recently spoke about the clash in an interview with Baradwaj Rangan on Galatta Plus, admitting that the situation was unfortunate for both films.

Bazmee expressed regret over the Diwali clash, saying, “It would have been great for both films without a clash. If we had a solo release, then the business would have doubled and the same applies to them as well.” He acknowledged that it wasn’t practical to alter the release date, citing that the team had been working non-stop to meet the original release deadline. “We announced over a year ago that we will come on this day. All the work was going on at full speed because we have made the film in a very less period of time,” he added.
Production Challenges
The filmmaker revealed the extensive effort that went into Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which involved working up to 46-48 hours straight in the final month before release. “We started the film in March and released in November,” he noted. The production team was under immense pressure, working up to 154 hours on the machine without sleep, which Bazmee said was a crucial factor in sticking to the original release date. “We were working like this. So, not just a week, we wouldn’t have been able to release even three days before the actual date,” he shared.

Impact On Box Office
Bazmee admitted that both films faced losses due to the clash but believed it was beyond his control. “With their subject, it might have been a compulsion for them also to release the film on Diwali. They were also right to do so. This clash was quite unfortunate, both the films faced a certain loss because of that,” he explained. Despite the clash, he maintained that each film has its own fate and outcome. “Every film has its own fate, it gets what it is supposed to get,” Bazmee concluded.
