Rajkumar Periasamy directorial Amaran is in news even before its release. The controversy surrounding the film erupted after its actor Sai Pallavi went to National War Memorial ahead of the film’s release and shared pictures on social media. Netizens however, dug out an old interview of her, in which she compared Indian Army to Indian terrorist, and slammed her.
During the interview, Pallavi had commented, “People in Pakistan view our army as a terrorist group, just as we might see them the same way. Perspectives change. I don’t understand violence.” This led to backlash against the actor, who urged everyone to boycott Sai Pallavi. It is to be noted that Pallavi’s comment was taken out of context.
Cast and Crew
The film is directed by Rajkumar Periasamy and produced under the banner Raaj Kamal Films International, which is owned by Kamal Haasan. It stars an ensemble comprising Sivakarthikeyan, Sai Pallavi, Bhuvan Arora, Rahul Bose, Lallu, Shreekumar, Shyam Mohan, Ajaey Naga Raaman, Mir Salman, Gaurav Venkatesh and Abhinav Raj.
The music of the film has been given by G.V. Prakash Kumar where as cinematography has been done by C.H. Sai. On the editor’s chair is R. Kalaivanan.
Release Date
Amaran is set to release on October 31 across the country. Originally shot in Tamil, the film has been dubbed for release in Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada languages. The release will clash with Hindi filmmakers Anees Bazmee and Rohit Shetty’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Singham Again, respectively. In the south, it will be released with Tamil movies Lucky Bhaskar, Brother, Bloody Beggar, Mechanic Rocky, and Bagheera, making Diwali brighter for the audience.
Amaran Plot
The film is a based on the life of Major Mukund Varadarajan, a commissioned officer in the Indian Army`s Rajput Regiment. Mukund showed courage during the counterterrorism operation in Jammu and Kashmir and passed away fighting the enemies. Major was posthumously awarded the Ashok Chakra.
Amaran OTT Release
The film’s digital rights have been brought by OTT giant Netflix. The film, which is releasing on October 31 in theatres, will be available for streaming on Netflix very soon after the release. However, no date has been announced by the makers of the streaming platform yet.
Trailer
Film’s trailer was dropped by the makers on October 23 on all social media platforms including YouTube. It begins with a clip of Major Mukund crooning Bharathiyar’s iconic ‘Acham Illai Acham Illai’ with his daughter. The same is recreated for the film. The trailer continues to give glimpses of Major Mukund’s love for Indian army, his fights and struggles while balancing his family and personal life.
The trailer struck the right chord with audience, with many dropping comments such as, “This trailer reminded my past with my Father , He also sacrificed his life for this country. Love you dad”, “I can’t See Sivakarthikeyan In This Movie I am only see Mr.Mukund Varadharajan Sir 💥🔥 Congratulations SK Anna You Prove One Time An Actor.”
