‘Am I Mad To Bring Mawra Hocane Back From The Dead?’ Producer Deepak Mukut On The Casting Of Sanam Teri Kasam 2

Producer Deepak Mukut dismisses rumours of Pakistani actress Mowra Hocane’s return in Sanam Teri Kasam 2, calling it baseless since her character died in the original. Reacting to Harshvardhan Rane’s patriotic stance, he calls it “unnecessary drama” over a non issue.

There has been a widespread uproar in this country over Pakistani actress Mowra Hocane’s negative comments on Operation Sindoor. The one most incensed at Ms Hocane’s insensitivity seems to be her Sanam Teri Kasam co-star, Harshvardhan Rane, who has loftily declared he won’t be part of the Sanam Teri Kasam sequel if Ms Hocane is back in it, as, and I quote, deshbhakt Harshvardhan Rane, the nation comes first.

To this, the Sanam Teri Kasam producer Deepak Mukut, in an exclusive chat with Subhash K Jha, says, “Am I mad to sign her (Mowra Hocane) for the sequel when her character died at the end of Sanam Teri Kasam? Would I bring her back as a ghost? And why would I do that? Even if her character had lived in the first part, there would have been no question of bringing her back in the sequel. There is no dearth of competent actresses in our own country.”

About his Sanam Teri Kasam male lead vowing to stay away from the sequel if his co-star returns, Deepak Mukut says, “I think he’s getting carried away. He knows better than anyone else that there is no question of her return (in the sequel). Her character is dead, gone. I don’t know why he is talking like this.”

Deepak Mukut, whose recent release comedy-horror The Bhootnii couldn’t get proper showcasing in movie theatres, says Sanam Teri Kasam is a work in progress. “We have a couple of ideas. We know what to do. We will be making the formal announcement soon. Believe me, it will be a surprise.”
