Singer Alka Yagnik, known for her beautiful songs in Hindi movies, has fans all over the world. One of her fans was the late Osama bin Laden, the former leader of the terrorist group al-Qaeda.
Reports say that when the CIA raided Osama bin Laden’s hideout in Abbottabad in 2011, they found several recordings of Alka Yagnik’s songs along with other Bollywood music. This showed that he was a big fan of the singer, just like many others.
The Viral Interview
In an interview with film producer Anu Ranjan, which was held six years ago, Yagnik talked about Osama bin Laden being a fan of her music. A clip from this interview is now going viral on social media.
During the conversation, Yagnik was told that when the CIA raided Osama bin Laden’s hideout in Abbottabad in 2011, they found several recordings of her songs, along with other Bollywood music by Udit Narayan and Kumar Sanu.
Reacting to this, the singer said, “Is it my fault? Osama bin Laden jo bhi hai jaisa bhi hai, uske andar ek chota sa kalakaar hoga kahin… (There might be an artiste inside him, no matter what he did). Pasand hai toh phir, accha hai na (It’s good that he liked my songs, right)?”
Alka Yagnik’s song ‘Ajnabee Mujhko Itna Bata‘ from the film Pyar To Hona Hi Tha, starring Kajol and Ajay Devgn, was one of the songs found by the CIA in Osama bin Laden’s hideout.
As the video became popular online, one Instagram user joked about how Alka Yagnik might react upon learning she had a fan in Osama bin Laden. They commented, “Alka ji: Mere fan bhi kitne khatarnaak hain (My fans are so dangerous) (sic).” Another user praised her voice, writing, “I have never seen or heard a better female singer than Alka Yagnik.”
