Sharing a throwback picture with Madhumati, Akshay Kumar wrote on X, "My first and forever guru. Everything I know about dance, I learnt at your feet, Madhumati ji. Har ada, har expression mein aapki yaad hamesha saath rahegi. Om Shanti."

Madhumati started her career in Bollywood in 1957 and worked in several industries, including Punjabi, Marathi, Hindi, Bhojpuri and South India. After working in the film industry for over two decades, she left in 1977. However, she made a comeback in 2001. She also ran her own dance academy ‘Madhumati Dance Academy’ in Mumbai. She was often compared to Helen due to her impeccable dance skills. She married Manohar Deepak at the young age of 19.

She knew Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Manipuri and Kathakali. The late actress worked in several hit movies like Chhoti Bahu, Amar Akbar Anthony, Mujhe Jeene Do, Ankhen and many more.
