Madhumati, veteran actress and dancer, passed away at the age of 87. Her demise has left a big void in the film industry. Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar, who was one of her students in his early days, paid a heartfelt tribute and shared an old picture with Madhumati on social media.
Sharing a throwback picture with Madhumati, Akshay Kumar wrote on X, "My first and forever guru. Everything I know about dance, I learnt at your feet, Madhumati ji. Har ada, har expression mein aapki yaad hamesha saath rahegi. Om Shanti."

Madhumati started her career in Bollywood in 1957 and worked in several industries, including Punjabi, Marathi, Hindi, Bhojpuri and South India. After working in the film industry for over two decades, she left in 1977. However, she made a comeback in 2001. She also ran her own dance academy ‘Madhumati Dance Academy’ in Mumbai. She was often compared to Helen due to her impeccable dance skills. She married Manohar Deepak at the young age of 19.
She knew Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Manipuri and Kathakali. The late actress worked in several hit movies like Chhoti Bahu, Amar Akbar Anthony, Mujhe Jeene Do, Ankhen and many more.
