The Drishyam franchise is set to return to theatres with a date that has become inseparable from its narrative. The new promo confirmed that Ajay Devgn will return as Vijay Salgaonkar, Tabu, Shriya Saran and Rajat Kapoor are also returning, along with Ishita Dutta and Mrunal Jadhav, who play Vijay’s daughters. However, there is no confirmation yet on whether Akshaye Khanna, who played a police officer in Drishyam 2, will be part of the third film.
On Monday, the makers officially announced that Drishyam 3 will release on October 2, 2026, a date that has special importance in the franchise.

The film is currently being shot and is expected to wrap up in the first half of next year. The makers have not shared any trailer details yet, and more updates are likely to come closer to the release in 2026.
About Drishyam franchise
The Drishyam franchise began with the 2015 Hindi remake of the Malayalam hit, directed by Nishikant Kamat. The film followed Vijay’s smart moves to protect his family after a crime, and it earned Rs 197 crore worldwide. Its sequel, released in 2022, was even more successful and collected Rs 345 crore globally.
Drishyam 3 is directed by Abhishek Pathak, who has also written the film along with Aamil Keeyan Khan and Parveez Shaikh. The film is produced by Alok Jain, Ajit Andhare, Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak. The Malayalam version of Drishyam 3, starring Mammootty, is also expected to release in 2026.
