Malyalam actor Shine Tom Chacko has again fallen into a series of trouble, as on Thursday, one more female co-actor, Aparna John, accused him of misbehaving with the actress. She blamed him for his remarks with sexual connotations and for acting unprofessionally toward her during the production of their upcoming project ‘Soothravakyam’.
Earlier, Shine Tom Chacko’s co-star Vincy Aloshious said that he behaved badly with her on the whole movie set because he was using drugs. The actress, Aparna John, who is now in Australia, told a TV channel that everything Vincy Aloshious said about Shine Tom Chacko’s behaviour, like him spitting out some white powder, was completely true. “White powder is all I can say, as I cannot state with any authority as to what it was. It could have been glucose,” she said.
At the moment, she claimed that Chacko behaved in a very abnormal and erratic manner during the shoot.“He displayed a high energy which we cannot match. He moved around constantly, was restless, said things which had no logical connections and if any woman was around, then his remarks were indecent.” Like Aloshious said, his remarks had strong sexual connotations and were explicit. It was like verbal diarrhoea,” she alleged.
John said his behavior made her feel uncomfortable, as she was also a newcomer to the acting field. She quickly complained to a member of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) on the set about the discomfort she felt. “I immediately got a resolution. The entire crew made the effort to complete my scenes ahead of schedule, so that I could leave,” she said.
Aparna also said that if she were trying to become an actress like Alosious, she would try to make sure the movie world was a safe place. “But I have limitations as I am here (Australia),” she said. Aloshious said that Chacko misbehaved with her and that she doesn’t want to work with people using narcotics on movie sets. She filed a complaint with the Film Chamber, saying that Chacko behaved unprofessionally with her on the movie set under the influence of drugs. Aparna also told the Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) about what he did during the shooting of the movie ‘Soothravakyam’, which hasn’t been released yet. But she did not go to the police. Over this, Chacko had reportedly apologized to her for his behaviour.
Also, after Aloshious made her claims, Chacko was arrested in a drug case. He was later let out on bail. This happened after he reportedly ran away from a hotel during a raid by the District Anti-Narcotic Special Action Force (DANSAF) team.
Shine Tom Chacko has been charged under Section 238 (causing disappearance of evidence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Section 27 (drug consumption) and Section 29 (abetment and criminal conspiracy) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, in connection with that incident.
The Kerala government, in the meantime, has said that it views the allegations against the actor seriously and its police and Excise departments are effectively intervening in the matter. The Ernakulam Additional Sessions Court had recently acquitted Chacko in a 2015 drug case, citing procedural lapses by the police during the seizure and arrest.
