Shraddha Kapoor’s brother, Siddhanth Kapoor, has been summoned by the Mumbai Police in connection with a high profile drug seizure case. According to PTI, Siddhanth has been asked to appear on November 25 to record his statement.
Earlier, Orhan Awatramani aka Orry was also summoned but failed to appear, requesting additional time. Both names came up during the interrogation of Mohammed Salim Mohammed Suhail Shaikh, the main accused in a Rs 252 crore mephedrone seizure. Shaikh allegedly mentioned the involvement of several Bollywood personalities during his questioning.
During interrogation, Shaikh has reportedly named several known personalities, including Nora Fatehi, Shraddha Kapoor, Siddharth Kapoor, Baba Siddique’s son Zeeshan Siddiqui, and Orry.
Siddhanth Kapoor was previously detained in Bengaluru in 2022 for allegedly consuming drugs. So far, neither he nor Shraddha Kapoor have commented on this investigation. Orry, on the other hand, missed his police summons but attended Travis Scott’s Mumbai concert on 19 November and has now requested more time to appear, asking for an extension until 25 November through his lawyer.
How the case started?
The case dates back to 2022, when a man from Worli was arrested and the police found MD worth Rs 1.19 lakh with him. As the investigation moved forward, a major breakthrough came in March 2024, when police discovered a mephedrone factory on a farm in Sangli, Maharashtra.
The factory was allegedly run by Salim Dola, who is believed to be close to drug supplier Salim Shaikh. Shaikh was later arrested in November and named several Bollywood celebrities during questioning.
