Adolescence has become the topic of discussion on social media due to its portrayal of many important issues. It has become a massive success on Netflix, including in India. The series focuses on a family, whose life takes a drastic turn after their 13-year-old Jamie Miller is arrested for the murder of a teenage girl. It has become a massive hit globally and has given tough competition to other Netflix shows like Stranger Things and Bridgerton.
According to reports, Adolescence has gained over 96.7 million viewers within three weeks and has left behind Stranger Things Season 3 and Bridgerton Season 2. Meanwhile, the show has got 30.4 million views within this week alone and is currently at No.1 position since last week. The milestone was achieved within 17 days only.
In a recent interview, the creators of Adolescence talked about the possibility of making a second season. While speaking to Variety about the possibility of Adolescence Season 2, creator Stephen Graham shared, “Possibly, let’s see how the figures are. But yeah, there’s the possibility of developing another story.”
Directed by Philip Barantini, Adolescence is co-created and written by Graham and Jack Thorne. The show has been shot in a single take.
There were speculations that Adolescence is based on a real story but Stephen clarified those rumours. Earlier, while speaking to Netflix, he revealed that ‘Adolescence’ is not exactly based on any real person or event but he got the idea for the show from some new reports. He shared, “There was an incident where a young boy [allegedly] stabbed a girl. It shocked me. I was thinking, ‘What’s going on? What’s happening in society where a boy stabs a girl to death? What’s the inciting incident here?’ And then it happened again, and it happened again, and it happened again. I really just wanted to shine a light on it, and ask, ‘Why is this happening today? What’s going on? How have we come to this?’”
