As during the promotions of the film she was asked about her hometown and answering to this Rashmika, who is originally from Karnataka, replied that “I’m from Hyderabad.”
Her reply did not fir well with most of the audience, specially with the Kannadigas, who felt that Rashmika was distancing herself from her origin. According to them, she is now a very popular figure of the film industry and maybe because of that is is so lost in her fame that she forgot about her roots. The trollers targeted Rashmika continuously accusing her of not acknowledging her Kannada background.
However, her team issued a statement after the incident, clarifying that there was no intentional refusal of her origins. But despite this, trolling continued and seemed to grow.
