Actor Mahesh Manjrekar’s first wife and renowned costume designer, Deepa Mehta, passed away on Sunday, September 28. The heartbreaking news was confirmed by their son, Satya Manjrekar, who shared a tribute on Instagram, posting a picture of his mother with the caption, “I miss you Mumma,” along with a red heart and white pigeon emoticons. Following the announcement, condolences and messages of support have poured in from friends, colleagues, and well-wishers across the industry.

Mahesh Manjrekar married Deepa Mehta in 1987, having known each other since their college days. The couple had two children together, daughter Ashwami Manjrekar and son Satya Manjrekar. Their marriage ended in 1995, after which the children continued to live with Mahesh.
Following his separation from Deepa, Mahesh married actress Medha Manjrekar. The couple has a daughter, Saiee Manjrekar, who made her Bollywood debut opposite Salman Khan in Dabangg 3. Saiee has since appeared in films such as Major and Kuch Khattaa Ho Jaay.
For the unversed, Manjrekar is an Indian actor, film director, screenwriter and producer who works primarily in Hindi films, alongside Marathi and Telugu films. He was first seen in the Door darshan Marathi series named Kshitij, and gained popularity as an actor for his performance in the 2002 film Kaante.
