Actor Lakshya Opens Up On Life After Kill: ‘I’m So Excited To Play A Romantic Lover Boy’

2024 was a breakthrough year for Lakshya as he made his big-screen debut with Kill, receiving an overwhelming response. After leaving television in 2018, he took a sabbatical to pursue films, and his risk paid off.

2024 was a really special year for Lakshya. “I made my big-screen debut and received an overwhelming response. It’s amazing when people come up asking for pictures. I couldn’t have asked for more, and I’m immensely grateful. God’s kind! My parents are really proud, and I want to keep making them proud and happy.”

Lakshya had a long stint on television before Karan Johar signed him for Kill. “There’s nothing that I regret. I did a couple of TV shows, and now, finally, films are happening—and that too, a film that is making all the right noise. People are talking about my film and enjoying it. I left TV back in 2018. I took a sabbatical, thinking that I would make it into movies. I gave myself one chance to see where it would lead. It feels like I’m born again, and a new life has started.”

This year, Lakshya shifts gears from action to romance. “I have a couple of exciting releases this year, one of them being Chand Mera Dil. It’s a romantic film, so I’m very excited to play a college lover boy. Showing a different side of myself will be a challenge for sure, and I’ve already started my prep.”

Lakshya has high praise for his Kill director and producers. “Nikhil Bhatt is a genius—the brains and heart of our film. He has given me the most special film of my life, and I’ll forever be grateful. My producers, Mr. Karan Johar and Apoorva Mehta, were always standing rock solid with me. It’s because of them that Kill could happen. It’s an expensive film, and betting on a newcomer is not something you usually see. What they’ve done for me is a dream that I’ll always cherish. I feel extremely lucky and fortunate to have been launched through Dharma.”

Lakshya ends with words of high praise for his Kill co-producer. “I’ve always admired Guneet Monga’s work. A few years back, when I took a sabbatical from TV, I messaged her on Instagram, asking if I could meet her. And a few years later, I was doing her film. She’s an absolute powerhouse- extremely hardworking and a visionary. She’s our Oscar winner, and I’m proud that I got the opportunity to work with her and her team.”
