Bollywood veteran Sulakshana Pandit passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at the age of 71. The actress, who had been battling illness for some time, breathed her last at a hospital in Mumbai.
She breathed her last at Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai following a prolonged illness. Her brother, music composer Lalit Pandit, confirmed the news, stating, “She passed away today around 8.00 pm. She suffered cardiac arrest. Her funeral will be tomorrow (November 7) at 12.00 noon.”

Sulakshana Pandit, sister of the renowned music composer duo Jatin-Lalit and actress Vijayta Pandit, is remembered for her melodious tracks like “Bekrar Dil Tu Gaye Ja” and “Somwar Ko Hum Mile, Mangalwar Ko Nain”, both duets with the legendary Kishore Kumar. Her song “Pardesiya Tere Desh Mein” with iconic singer Mohammed Rafi also won widespread appreciation. Together with her brothers, she contributed to several musical gems, including “Sona Re Tujhe Kaise Miloon,” “Yeh Pyara Lage Tera Chehra,” “Jab Aati Hogi Yaad Meri,” and “Yeh Pyar Kiya Hai.”
In 1975, she earned a Filmfare Award for “Tu Hi Sagar Tu Hi Kinara” from the film Sankalp. Beyond singing, Sulakshana also acted in notable films such as Hera Pheri (1976), Dharam Kanta (1982), Do Waqt Ki Roti (1988), and Goraa (1987).
