Shankar Dayal, the talented screenwriter and filmmaker best known for his 2012 Tamil political satire Saguni, has passed away at the age of 54. The director suffered a heart attack on Thursday night and was rushed to a hospital, where he unfortunately succumbed to his condition.

Shankar Dayal began his career in the film industry as a dialogue writer, contributing to notable films such as Arjun’s Parasuram (2003) and the Jayam Ravi-starrer Deepavali (2007). His breakthrough came with his directorial debut, Saguni, which featured Karthi in the lead role as a cunning political campaigner. The film, produced by Dream Warrior Pictures, also boasted a talented ensemble cast, including Pranitha, Santhanam, Prakash Raj, Kiran Rathod, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Radhika Sarathkumar, and Nassar.
