Aamir Khan was reportedly going to team up with ace filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani for the biopic of Dadasaheb Phalke. But as per the sources close to the project, the actor has rejected its script two months before it was supposed to go on the floor. Rajkumar Hirani and Abhijat Joshi, who have worked together with Aamir in ‘PK’ and 3 Idiots’, narrated the script of Dadasaheb Phalke to the actor, who was reportedly taken aback by the script’s serious tone.
Amid the reports of Aamir Khan opting out of the biopic, the actor has assured that he is still part of the film. He said, “Who says I am not doing the Dadasheb Phalke biopic. I am very much on.”
The problem regarding the script arose after Aamir Khan was reportedly surprised by its serious tone. Both Hirani and Joshi are known for the amalgamation of humour and social commentary in their films. Aamir shared his opinion that the script was not up to his expectations, and he urged the writer-director duo to rewrite the script. Due to this, the filming schedule, which was supposed to begin at the end of October 2025, has been disrupted.
According to sources, Aamir Khan has become more careful due to the mixed reaction of the audience about his cameo in ‘Coolie’. Some fake news even claimed that Aamir called his work in ‘Coolie’ a big mistake, but the actor’s team later dismissed these rumours.
Due to the mixed response for ‘Coolie’, Aamir Khan and Lokesh Kanagraj’s superhero film has reportedly been put on hold. Other reports claimed that the actor rejected the project because he was asking for a complete script, and Lokesh does not usually lock the entire script beforehand.
On the work front, Aamir Khan was last seen in ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’, which generated a decent response in theatres.
