Aamir Khan Reacts To ‘Laapataa Ladies’ Exit From Oscars 2025 Race: ‘Don’t Take It ….’

Aamir Khan responds to Laapataa Ladies failing to make the Oscar shortlist, suggesting fans shouldn’t take it too seriously. He believes the competition is subjective and tough.

Laapataa Ladies

India’s official entry to the 2025 Oscars, Laapataa Ladies, didn’t make it to the shortlist for the Foreign Language Film category. In a recent interview with ABP Live, Aamir Khan, the producer of the film, reacted to its exclusion, offering a refreshing perspective. He suggested that the exit should not be taken too seriously, explaining why the competition is incredibly tough.

During the Ideas of India Summit 2025, Aamir spoke candidly about the challenging nature of the Oscars' Foreign Language category. He said, "There was no shortcoming in our film. But when a movie competes in the Foreign Language category, 80-85 countries are sending their best films, making the competition extremely tough." Aamir highlighted that this category faces even more competition than others at the Oscars.

Aamir’s Perspective On Subjectivity

Aamir further elaborated, expressing that the failure to make the cut doesn’t mean Laapataa Ladies wasn’t a good film. “There are other films that the members preferred, or they liked them more. It’s a subjective field with everyone having their own preferences. So, it’s not something to take seriously. I certainly don’t," he added.
