Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, who is recently making headlines regarding his relationship with Gauri Spratt, candidly spoke about his first marriage divorce with Reena Dutta.

In the recent interview with Instant Bollywood, Aamir Khan shared how he struggled with depression and started to have Alcohol as a way to cope with his emotional pain after divorce.

The actor revealed that after he and Reena divorced, he went in the phase of mourning which continued for about two to three years. Aamir admitted that during this time, he stopped focusing on his acting and even as producer he stopped listening to scripts and all.

He felt isolated and this loneliness forced himself to start having alcohol which he continued having heavily for around a year and a half. He said: “I wasn’t working or listening to scripts. I was alone at home, and for almost 1.5 years, I drank a lot. You will be shocked to know that I was a teetotaler. After the split up, I didn’t know what to do. I couldn’t sleep at night, and I started drinking.” He added that, “From someone who didn’t drink at all, I went to being someone who drank an entire bottle in a day. I was like Devdas, someone who is trying to destroy themselves. I did that for 1.5 years. I was in a deep depression.”

Aamir explained how after some time he eventually learned to accept the reality and face the loss. He said, “You have to face your losses and accept how important it was for you. Accept that what was once yours is not there now. Also accept how good it was for you when it was there and how much you will miss it when it isn’t there anymore.”

Aamir Khan’s New Relationship

Aamir also revealed that he is no longer into all this and has stopped drinking alcohol as well. Also, recently on his birthday, he introduced his new partner Gauri Spratt to the public and expressed that he feels ‘committed’ with her.

However, he said that marriage no longer suits him as he is already 60 but told not to assume anything and let’s see what happens ahead.

Aamir’s Past Marriages

Aamir’s first marriage to Reena Dutta was kept private for a long time. The couple was married for 16 years and has two children, a son named Junaid and a daughter named Ira. After their divorce in 2002, Aamir married Kiran Rao in 2005. Their marriage lasted 16 years, and they have a son, Azad. Aamir and Kiran parted ways in 2021, and Aamir now seems to be in a peaceful place with Gauri.
