Farhan Akhtar is set to direct another film about the Indian Army, returning to the genre 20 years after his critically acclaimed movie Lakshya, which starred Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta. Pinkvilla exclusively reports that the filmmaker is eager to create a military drama, with an official announcement expected soon.
During a conversation with Pinkvilla Masterclass, Farhan Akhtar confirmed his plans to make another film based on the Indian Army. He revealed that the team is currently putting the film together and expects to make an official announcement within a couple of weeks. Akhtar expressed his excitement about mentally and emotionally revisiting that phase and looks forward to the project.
Ritesh Sidhwani, also present at the event, mentioned that the Indian Army General at the time gave the Lakshya team personalized awards, as they felt the film perfectly depicted the Indian Army.
Released three years after Farhan Akhtar’s debut film Dil Chahta Hai, Lakshya had high expectations following the success of his first movie. While it didn’t achieve the same level of success as Dil Chahta Hai, Lakshya made a significant impact as a coming-of-age story set against the fictionalized backdrop of the 1999 Kargil War. Starring Hrithik Roshan, the film was released in 2004 and has now reached its 20-year milestone.
The film also included prominent roles for Boman Irani and Amitabh Bachchan, showcasing an impressive star cast.
Farhan Akhtar is making headlines for directing Don 3, featuring Ranveer Singh and Kiara A.
